I invite you to join me, grab a cuppa and sit a while as I share with you my daily thoughts, insights and lessons learned through #scripture #devotions and #life in general.

Welcome to today's blog post. As a busy working wife and mother, I don't have the time to write read extensive blog posts, I am a matter of fact person and am not good at paying attention to people waffle! Hence I try to keep my posts shortish and practical where possible!
“Faith finds weapons everywhere. He who wills to believe shall never lack reasons for believing.” Spurgeon
People worldwide, all walks of life, are finding life tough due to the current #covid19 pandemic. Lost incomes, job losses, freedoms restricted, cabin fever etc etc compounded by loss of loved ones and or chronic diseases and sickness. It is during these times that our faith remains steadfast as ever - no matter what the world throws at us, our faith should always be strong.
What to do when we feel our faith slipping?
We trust in God's Word and promises, it really is as simple as this. When things are going smoothly (my way!) or I can't make sense of circumstances, I tend to have a wee moan to God - "Why Lord are you allowing this to happen .... happen to me especially ... I try and be a good Christian person?!" Whenever I feel sorry for myself, I remember the book of Job and what God teaches us in this powerful story - that God is God and we are not.
I loved the reading this morning on my #youversion Bible devotional plan today: "When we don't feel the truth, we claim it until our head knowledge connects to make our hearts feel it. God, who sent His Son to die for our sins (yours and mine), has the right to act as He sees fit because His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Indeed, as we remind ourselves who we are and more importantly who God is, 'faith' starts to build up strong inside our fragile beings.
The devotion goes on to explain that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. We believe in the Lord's supreme authority to rule us, AND we choose to live and walk in this truth.
5 Ways to build our faith
Walk right with God, if your live a life of orderliness this is usually a mark that you are walking in the right path. How do we walk right with God? By being in His Word daily, listening to God's word being taught, confessing your sins, repenting of your sins and communing daily in prayer with Jesus. I have a fridge magnet with a quote from Joshua 24:15 "But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Take your eyes off the situation and focus them on God. A powerful strategy is to pray God's promises back to him in prayer - find verses relevant to your situation and pray on bended knee to a God who wants to hear you and help you. This builds up faith in God - not in ourselves. We must DO God's Word and be not only hearers.
To build up faith, we need to BE faithful to God. Look at your life - have you been unfaithful and not given God his dues. Repent and seek His forgiveness this day - God provides faith to endure any situation but we must be doing our part to.
Know who God is. Seek through God's Word diligently to get to know Him - as you read your faith is strengthened because of all the promises to us if we are walking according to His word. When we get to know people, we get to either trust them or not by their actions. If you don't KNOW God then how can you place your faith in Him.
Memorise Scripture. This is a new practice I have recently started - although I have tried in the past I convinced myself that my memory wasn't good and that I would not be able to retain verses, so gave up. However, I found a useful process which has made memorising a little easier - whichever way you look at it, it is still a discipline we need to learn. Here's how I learn: I choose a scripture verse which is meaningful to my current situation, write it out on 3 cards, then place each card in a prominent position (on my bathroom mirror, above the kettle and on my computer screen). Read and say out aloud the whole week. Write the verse out several times. Then write out 3 ''tests'' leaving certain words and or the book name and verse. Complete the test once a week for the next 3 weeks. Review all memory verses each month (last Sunday of each month works for me).
"We have to live God's Word no only know it."
5 Resources which I have found useful (and hope you do to!)
YouVersion Bible app reading plans. I am currently following the 'Read through the Bible in One Year' plan. This holds me accountable - I hate missing days!
To keep my life orderly, I love a planner and in particular find The 7 Minute Solution planning process extremely useful.
Knowledge of the Holy : The Attributes of God (A W Tozer)
'émpty' (Living Full of Faith When Life Drains you Dry) - Highly recommended read.
Another book I found so useful during a time of testing and trials is 'When You Can't Find God" by Linda Evans Shepherd.
What do you do when you find your faith faltering - I would love to learn from you, please share.
Graciously Yours
